Welcome back to another juicy Wednesday, Juicies.

I’m back from my 10-day trip to the UK! 🇬🇧

The places I’ve been to include Oxford, Bath, Stonehenge, and London.

It’s a lovely place.

And since I’m from Singapore, it’s my first time over on the other side of the planet.

Here’s me standing at Trafalgar Square.

AI and tech aside, travel is one of the best ways to reset your mind and boost productivity.

Because I’m sure as hell pumped to be back!! 🔥

This week, I’ll share how I used AI and tech in the past few weeks while I was away and some of the best GPTs.

1. Learn How I use AI for Laundry Care 🧺

Forget about using AI for profitability.

What about using it to help you fight that monster?

Y’know, that monster of a chore;

LAUNDRY?! 🧺

The one that revives and haunts you every day?

Now, you can finally figure out laundry care instructions on your clothes.

You see, I have this particular soft toy that I wanted to wash.

Said soft toy with laundry care instructions

But I just couldn’t figure out if I should put it in a washing machine or not.

So I aimed my iPhone at it and took a picture of it.

Then, I looked at the information tab of the photo I took in the Photos app.

I noticed it had a little sparkle to it.

I clicked the “Look Up Laundry Care

The AI image recognition built into iOS 17 managed to get me the right laundry care instructions.

Now I know I can stuff this teddy bear into the washing machine.

This feature is called “Visual Look Up”.

Visual Look Up appears to recognize all of the laundry symbols that we tested with, including washing machine temperatures, bleaching recommendations, dryer restrictions, ironing temperatures, and more.

It recognizes almost any laundry tag, but the image must zoomed in enough for the ‌iPhone‌ to detect the symbols.

What do you think?

Have you tried using this feature before?

Additionally, Visual Look Up can also detect car symbols on vehicle dashboards.

Apple is really subtle about its AI usage.

If you’re on an iPhone and have updated to iOS 17, you’ll have access to this feature.

2. 5 Best GPTs in 2024 🤖

Custom GPTs have been out for a while now.

But not all of them are made equal.

To be honest, some just suck.

Here are some that don’t - in fact, they are ones that people love.

(They all have a rating of more than 4 out of 5 stars!)

1. Scholar GPT (Research GPT)

3. 3 Ways I Used Tech for Travel 🧳

As I mentioned, I came back from my recent travels to London, UK. 🇬🇧

I noticed something that happens every trip.

I find myself looking for ways to use tech or gadgets to optimize my tourist experience while overseas.

Here are my 3 top tech recommendations for when you travel:

1. Travel GaN Charger

In case you haven’t heard of GaN chargers, they’re amazing.

With a small package, I use it to charge all my electronics while overseas.

Gallium nitride, or GaN, is a material that's starting to be used for semiconductors in chargers.

It was used to make LEDs starting in the '90s, and it's also a popular material for solar cell arrays on satellites.

The main thing about GaN regarding chargers is that it produces less heat.

Less heat means components can be closer together, so a charger can be smaller than ever—while maintaining all the power capabilities and safety standards.

Basically:

Gone are the days when I must bring extension wires and clunky travel heads to suit the US, UK, Aussie, NZ, and many other standards.

I recall fussing around with all that during my New Zealand road trip, while infected with COVID-19. Not a fantastic memory.

BUT.

Bringing along a GaN charger isn’t everything; you’ll also need adaptor heads to plug into sockets.

A Travel GaN charger will handle everything for you, with a high enough wattage to charge your iPad or laptop while overseas.

Mine can even slide the different heads in and out, so it doesn’t take up much space.

It’s just such a power-packed power plug.

Here’s a link to a travel GaN charger similar to mine.

2. Train or Plane Tickets on Apple Watch

Did you know that you can put train or plane tickets in your Apple Wallet and have it show up on your Apple Watch?

Note: This usually only works for domestic flights or train rides. (Based on my experience)

If you love tech conveniences like these,

or if you just love using tech,

or if you travel often,

Then this is great for you.

However, do note that all plane and train tickets might not support this function.

You do have to check.

Where possible, you can go to the app you bought your tickets and look for a button with “Add to Apple Wallet” or “Add to Google Wallet.”

Look for a button like this in your plane/train app:

Of course, you need the respective wallet apps to make this work.

In my case, when I took a train from London to Oxford, I got a ticket from Trainline, which provided tickets that could be added to my Apple Wallet.

London to Oxford: Great Western Railway ticker via the Trainline app

I added it, and it appeared on my Apple Watch and iPhone.

I just needed to scan the QR on the reader when I went in and out of train stations.

3. Apple Maps Navigation on Apple Watch

Last but not least, the most used feature!

Apple maps.

I used to use Google Maps for navigation in Japan, but I realized Apple Maps works much better.

Why?

Apple Maps has an inbuilt, newly-updated map visualization on my Apple Watch.

This means I can go hands-free when I walk around and enjoy the views.

And not looking down at my phone all the time.

As I’ve heard stories of phone snatchings in London, I also can’t be walking around with my phone out and checking directions all the time.

I recommend you to try it out!
