How To Perform a LinkedIn Content Audit

With fear and trembling, I made my very first LinkedIn post on Oct 25, 2023.

Yep, I am just like you; a random person you bump into on the street.

I had no direction and no strategy.

I just posted “stuff” blindly.

Said random “stuff”:

• GIFs

• Horizontal videos

• Random videos

1 like. 2 comments.

Very demoralizing (or embarrassing) stats on LinkedIn.

Ever tried to drive without any rear or side mirrors?

Yeah, that’s how I felt back then.

Firstly, you can’t see what’s happening around you.

And secondly, you don’t even know where you’re headed.

That’s why data analysis is so important.

(I may be biased as a professional data analyst)

But it gives you SO much context on how you’re doing.

All the AI techniques I’ve shared would be useless!

So you can double down on what’s working!

Here’s what I recommend you try today:

Conduct a LinkedIn content audit.

The Tutorial: How to Analyze LinkedIn Content Performance

1. Head to Kleo

The first step is really simple.

Just head to Kleo’s website and sign up for a free account.

2. Click on “Install on Chrome”

Get the Chrome extension installed on your browser.

3. Head to Your

LinkedIn Profile

4. Scroll Down and Click “Show all posts →”

This will bring up the page where Kleo can grab data from all your posts.

5. Click On the Blue Kleo Tab on the Right

Once you have Kleo installed, you’ll notice the Kleo tab on the right side of your screen.

Click on it.

Kleo will begin to read all the content within that page.

6. Click on Refresh

You’ll need to manually hit refresh if you’ve made new posts.

7. Click on Date

8. Click on Last Month

You can also select other date ranges depending on how much content you wan to audit.

And there you have it, your top performing posts for the past 1 month!

My suggestion: Click on All Posts to find out the distribution of all your LinkedIn post types:

• Text

• Carousel

• Image

• Video

You can then also sort by likes, comments, or reposts.

9. Repeat Results Every Month

Repeat each month!

Do this before you plan out new LinkedIn content for the month.

Feel free to also select Year-to-Date or for the past week.

Bonus: Learn From LinkedIn Giants

You can also use this tool on other creators!

For example, here’s Justin Welsh’s posts page.

You’ll see his MOST viral posts date back to 2020, with 68k likes and 2k comments.

In fact, here it is:

An absolute banger.

BTW.

You can do that same using his template.

You can do this workflow to use these viral posts for your content:

Get viral post → create post templates using AI → write using AI

(btw I share how to do this within my mini-course)

Now repeat this with any writing style or creator you want to emulate.

The Life Changed (What this means for you)

How’s that for having rearview mirrors?

With this method, you now know more about what content works for you.

Which you can double down on.

(with or without AI)

If carousels are doing well, do more of them!

If videos are doing well, do them too.

You get the drift.
