Ever had AI-generated responses like those?
Such obvious, low-quality responses are in fact, very easy to avoid.
As such, there are 2 types of people in the world:
Ones that CAN prompt. (And get great results)
Ones that CANāT prompt (And give up)
Please donāt be the latter.
Thatās what you subscribed to this newsletter for š
Itās actually really simple - you just need to use prompt frameworks.

Why prompt frameworks?
I created this cheatsheet 1 year ago. Link to the high quality PDF here.
The only drug that Iām addicted to is prompt frameworks.
Yes, they are that addictive.
Purely because they produce RESULTS.
After using prompt frameworks, Iāve seen at least a 50% longer and more focused response by ChatGPT.
This translates to a much HIGHER content output for LinkedIn, email marketing, plus any other of your social channels.
(yeah, it also means itās easier to hit your KPIs each quarter)
What are prompt frameworks?
Hereās a definition by ChatGPT (modified by me for simplicity)
Prompt frameworks are structured methodologies or systems designed to help users effectively craft prompts for AI models, such as GPT. They guide the creation of instructions to maximize the value of an LLMās responses.
Essentially, they are like giving SOPs to a new member of your staff team.
They tell it exactly what to do, so it doesnāt mess up.
So you get consistent results.
RTF Framework
Hereās an example of the RTF framework:
Role: Define the AI's role.
Task: Specify the task or action to be performed.
Format: Indicate the desired structure, tone, or style of the response.
By breaking the prompt into Role, Task, and Format, the RTF framework ensures the AI delivers focused, actionable, and well-structured outputs.

How to use Prompt Frameworks for LinkedIn
If youāre here, you probably came from LinkedIn.
I wanted to show you an example you can use to craft a marketing plan for LinkedIn.
Hereās how I would do it.
1. Define Your Goal
Before we even start, you need to define the goal of what you want the AI to do.
Garbage in, garbage out.
You need to be clear on what you want.
Thatās because AI right now is a black box.
Itās just an empty text input bubble and you.
You can craft a goal such as this:
Goal: I want the AI to generate a strategic marketing plan to promote a new B2B project management software.
Writing this simple statement helps you stay focused on crafting your prompt using the framework.
2. Define a Role
Now we actually begin writing the prompt.
Pull out your notes app or a Google doc to write this as practice.
(Just so you donāt get nervous about writing it perfectly in the AI interface.)
All LLMs need to be assigned a role to embody expertise in a certain field.
This helps the AI stay focused.
Now type out the role you want it to assume.
Hereās an example you can take a reference from.
Role: "You are a B2B marketing strategist with expertise in SaaS and project management tools."
Role: "You are a B2B marketing strategist with expertise in SaaS and project management tools."
3. Define a Task
Now itās time to get to the meat of your prompt.
The task.
Below the role, write out a task that you want the AI to perform.
Keep these in mind when writing your prompt:
Be clear and specific: State exactly what you need.
Use conversational language: Write as if youāre talking to a helpful colleague.
Break down complex requests: Divide tasks into manageable parts.
Add context: Share relevant background details to guide the AI.
Keep it action-oriented: Use verbs like "create," "suggest," or "explain."
Anticipate confusion: Clarify priorities and avoid misunderstandings.
Provide examples: Show the AI what the desired output looks like.
Of all of these tips, I find providing examples to be the best way for AI to know EXACTLY what you want.
These learnings are coming from an entire year of my heavy ChatGPT use for work.
Hereās an example:
Task: "Develop a marketing strategy for a new B2B project management tool aimed at mid-sized companies in the tech and professional services industries. For example:
Target Audience: Describe the ideal audience, such as project managers, operations managers, or CTOs, and highlight their pain points like inefficient workflows or lack of visibility.
Value Proposition: Outline key benefits of the tool, like saving time with automated workflows or improving team collaboration through real-time updates.
Marketing Channels: Suggest specific platforms, such as LinkedIn for targeting decision-makers, email marketing for direct outreach, and webinars to showcase the tool in action.
Campaign Ideas: Provide unique concepts, such as a free trial campaign, case studies from similar businesses, or an interactive ROI calculator to demonstrate value.
4. Define the Format You Want as the Output
Telling it to create a āmarketing strategyā can be too specific.
Thatās where the F in the RTF framework comes in.
The format.
It should contain a specific desired output like:
"Provide three marketing strategies in bullet point format."
"Create a table listing marketing channels, their advantages, and examples of campaigns."
"Develop a content outline for a blog post with headings and short descriptions."
"Write an email using the AIDA framework for promoting a product."
Weāre almost there!
Write your format now.
Hereās an example format:
Format:
"Provide a detailed 4-point strategy, ensuring each section includes examples and actionable insights:
Target Audience: Describe the ideal customer profile (e.g., mid-sized tech companies, decision-makers like project managers or CTOs) and highlight their specific challenges (e.g., inefficient workflows, lack of collaboration).
Value Proposition: Explain the key benefits of the product, like saving time through automation or enhancing team productivity. Include examples of features (e.g., real-time tracking, integration capabilities).
Marketing Channels: Recommend specific platforms and methods, such as LinkedIn for professional outreach, webinars for demos, or email campaigns for targeted engagement.
Suggested Campaigns: Provide creative ideas, like a '14-day free trial with onboarding support,' 'success stories from similar businesses,' or an interactive tool to calculate ROI.
Use bullet points for clarity and make each point actionable and concise."
5. Put it All Together
Great! You made it this far.
Youāre already better at writing prompts than at least 80% of ChatGPT users.
Itās time to put it all together.
Now remove the headings of the RTF framework and combine them in one, singular text input:
You are a B2B marketing strategist with expertise in SaaS and project management tools.
"Develop a marketing strategy for a new B2B project management tool aimed at mid-sized companies in the tech and professional services industries. For example:
Target Audience: Describe the ideal audience, such as project managers, operations managers, or CTOs, and highlight their pain points like inefficient workflows or lack of visibility.

Examples of More Prompt Frameworks
Here is the summary table of all the prompt frameworks.
Framework | Meaning | Focus | Key Applications |
---|---|---|---|
RTF | Role, Task, Format | Clarifying the role to adopt, defining the task to perform, and specifying the format for output. | Ideal for structured outputs like summaries, reports, or coding tasks. |
RISEN | Role, Instructions, Steps, End goal, Narrowing | Defining the role, providing instructions and actionable steps, clarifying the end goal, and narrowing the focus for precision. | Useful for step-by-step processes, task execution, and focused outputs. |
RODES | Role, Objective, Details, Examples, Sense Check | Combines the role and objective, specifies details and examples, and ensures a sense check for quality and relevance. | Useful for ensuring clarity and quality in storytelling, problem-solving, or creative generation. |
COSTAR | Context, Objective, Style, Tone, Audience, Response | Providing context and objective for clarity, aligning the style, tone, and audience, and specifying the response format for output and pipelines. | Best for professional communications, workflow automation, and precise targeted responses. |
They are slightly more advanced than the usual RTF framework.
Feel free to experiment with them with the method Iāve taught you!
Youāre an absolute friend to me if youāve read this far.
