2. How to Become a Cyborg: AI-Powered Exoskeletons ๐
Something cool popped up on my YouTube feed.
And I thought to share it with you!
Itโs an AI-powered exoskeleton called DNSYS X1.
Essentially, itโll make you a super fast cyborg.
CNET tried it out.
They took it to test on a steep hill in San Francisco.
The exoskeleton was tested to determine how well it assisted them in walking, running, and overall physical exertion.
Here are the results:
Tests | Without Exoskeleton | With Exoskeleton |
---|---|---|
Testing on Steep Hill | Climbing Time: 56 seconds | Climbing Time: 51 seconds (5 seconds faster) |
Experience: Significant struggle, winded | Experience: Subtle improvement, felt lighter | |
Speed Test and Performance | Achieved Speed: Not specified | Achieved Speed: 19 km/h |
Support Feeling: N/A | Support Feeling: Noticeable at higher speeds |
The CNET reporter truly felt cyborg like abilities akin to feeling "a little bit lighter rather than someone giving you a prod along."
How does it work?
The exoskeleton uses a deep learning system to predict joint movements a second ahead and assist accordingly.
The device weighs only 1.6 kilos and provides up to 25-30 kilometers of battery life on a single charge, with easily swappable batteries.
In a speed test, she mentioned that she " actually really, really felt it kick on as I was getting faster," highlighting that it possibly ramped up its assistance when going at faster speeds.
What are some of its applications?
Because it makes a subtle difference to walking and running speeds, it works perfectly for those with serious mobility issues.
Beyond aiding in running and hiking, the exoskeleton has potential applications in rehabilitation.
Also, for individuals who need to conserve energy or maintain a lower heart rate during physical activities, like that of chronic disease patients.
Where to get it?
The DNSYS X1 is currently a Kickstarter project.
Invest before this company becomes a household name
What if you had the opportunity to invest in the biggest electronics products before they launched into big box retail, would you?
Ring changed doorbells and Nest changed thermostats. Early investors in these companies earned massive returns, but the opportunity to invest was limited to a select, wealthy few. Not anymore. RYSE has just launched in 100+ Best Buy stores, and you're in luck โ you can still invest at only $1.50/share before their name becomes known nationwide.
They have patented the only mass market shade automation device, and their exclusive deal with Best Buy resembles that which led Ring and Nest to their billion-dollar buyouts.
3. BREAKING NEWS: OpenAIโs New LLM: GPT-4o ๐ค
Have you heard of the all-new GPT-4o that OpenAIโs releasing?
If you havenโt hereโs a video that made my jaw drop:
It was such a beautiful blend of multimodal inputs.
What I mean by multimodal would be how well it took in computer components vision ( video input) and voice recognition components (voice input)!
ChatGPT outperforms most of other popular LLMs in reasoning with a new high-score of 88.7%
For techies, hereโs a simple rundown from their website:
Text Evaluation: GPT-4o is better than most other popular LLMs.
Speech Recognition: GPT-4o is dramatically better than Whisper-v3 across all languages, particularly for lower-resourced languages, like Asian and African ones.
Audio Translation: GPT-4o is now better than all other popular LLMs from Meta and Google.
M3Exam Zero-Shot Results: GPT-4o is now better at multilingual and vision evaluation than OpenAIโs previous model, GPT-4.
Vision Understanding Evals: GPT-4o has the highest performance on visual perception benchmarks as compared to other models.
My Thoughts
While the graphs may show that itโs better than other models in many aspects, the GPT-4o model excels mostly in vision and speech understanding.
However, as humans, these improvements feel so surreal to us!
And thatโs because these are natural language components that we use daily.
What are your thoughts on this model?
Have you tried it yet?
Hit reply and let me know ๐
That's all, folks - see you next Wednesday!
