OpenAI silently released a new feature.
It’s called Canvas.
No, it’s not Canva, the design tool.
Canvas is essentially a text editor with ChatGPT built-in.
I recently discovered that it’s great for writing blog posts.
(With some human editing of course)
Small caveat: You need to be a paying user of ChatGPT to access this feature.
Let’s get started.
Also, I’m working to release a mini-course.
(Hint: It’s about automating LinkedIn marketing using AI)
It’s a course that you, my fellow hard-working innovative marketer, will love.
I’ll share more details next week.
1. Head to ChatGPT’s website
3. Give it a prompt to write a blog post
Next, you’ll want to give it a super powerful prompt like this:
You are an experienced senior tech writer, you will write a blog post with the title: "Modern Data Stack: Definition, Components, Explanation". The blog post must be more technical in nature because it is catered to a data scientists, data engineerings and tech leaders.
4. Explore the Canvas editor
You’ll notice that the editor will popup and take the above look.
On the left, you will have your chat with ChatGPT.
On the right, you now get the Canvas editor, where you can edit text.
Why is this important?
It’s because SEO is changing and 100% AI-generated content may be seen as spam in the eyes of Google.
While it is a multi-faceted feat to rank well on Google, quality content that’s written in line with AI + human imput is recommended.
I use this method with another AI tool called Jasper to help me rank no.1 on many of my blog posts.
Don’t know where to start with AI?
↳ Here’s where to start: The AI Starter Kit.
I spent 100s of hours crafting this kit, with ALL my AI knowledge inside.

5. Make custom AI edits in the Canvas editor
We’ll now make some edits using the Canvas editor.
The first paragraph doesn’t really hook the audience to get them to scroll down.
Highlight the first paragraph by mousing over the top right of it.
After clicking on it, you’ll see a popup.
Then click on Ask ChatGPT.
You’ll be given a text box to prompt ChatGPT with the context of the highlighted portion.
Now prompt it to edit the paragraph, like so:
6. Watch ChatGPT do its magic
You’ll see ChatGPT get to work, rewriting the entire paragraph.
It changed the phrasing of words to address the target audience, so readers know that the content within the article is highly relevant to them.
Here’s the rewritten output on the right:
And ChatGPT’s response on the left.
As you can see, this feature great for working in collaboration with AI.
Great! Now we have a good introduction to work with.
Time to make it sound more human.

AI won’t take your job, but a person using AI might. That’s why 800,000+ professionals read The Rundown AI – the free newsletter that keeps you updated on the latest AI news and teaches you how to use it in just 5 minutes a day.
7. Edit the content to sound more human
It’s time for some manual edits.
I did the following:
Improve readability: Broke up the text into 3 separate pargraphs
Empathize with target audience: Addressed needs of data scientists, analyst, engineers, tech leaders
Cover more grounds: Highlighted more points to be covered in the article to pique reader interest.
8. Copy and paste into your content management system
To copy, just click on the copy button at the top right corner, next to your avatar.
Bonus: Explore other features
Canvas also features a few other quick actions in its toolkit.
You can access them at the bottom right corner.
Click on this bubble at the bottom:
You can quickly adjust the emojis, final polishes, length, reading level, and suggest edits.
Have fun with this neat tool!
That’s all for this week.
Catch you soon.
